My Prayer for You + Week In-Review
On this rainy Friday afternoon, I’m impressed with the need to pray for you, both individually and collectively. Below is my prayer for you, as well as three “Week In-Review” news items that I believe will interest you and benefit your walk with Jesus Christ.
Why Gather?
…as we gather tomorrow for collective worship to glory in the Triune God, we will be joined in voice and heart with the great anthem of all God’s people across every continent on the globe in lifting our praise to the King of all kings. A tremendous harmony of different languages, ethnicities, and music styles will sound forth in a great chorus to the ears of our transcendent yet intimately personal God.
The Perfect Gift
My wife, Stephanie, is a fantastic, deal-finding Christmas shopper extraordinaire. Several days ago she announced to me that all our Christmas gifts were purchased. . . except for just two items. Apparently a couple people we deeply love seem to have most everything they want and need, which, of course makes them nearly impossible to “gift” at Christmastide.
He Knows
Our God sees each smile and tear. He hears each laugh, sigh, and cry. He knows every thought, intent, motive, and desire. Yet He does not stand aloof from our circumstances, for His total knowledge is always accompanied by His total presence. He enters into the mountaintops and shadows of our lives, lovingly guiding the steps of His children. His omniscience is join with omnipresence.
Grace in April Snow
God is completely in control. He never loses His grip on the steering wheel. He never drops His conductor’s baton. Those who look for the mark of His craftsmanship will find His handiwork everywhere.
Taking Your Vitamins?
When we’re jogging along in a healthy trajectory of spiritual growth, we can find ourselves gaining an inordinate confidence in ourselves. We gaze back at our past accomplishments with a token note of thanks to God, yet also an encroaching desire for a good ole’ pat-on-the-back. We might ease up on the throttle, subtly believing we’ve crossed a threshold in obvious maturity. . . .
